Dr. John Gruss graduated from the Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978. Dr. John also has his Master's in Reproduction Physiology from OSU, and enjoys helping clients with their canine breeding programs. He lives in Earlysville with his wife, Dr. Kathi Gruss, their two cats and toy poodle. His children are now in college at Virginia Tech and Piedmont Virginia Community College. In addition to enjoying spending time with his family, Dr. John is an avid woodworker. One of his recent projects was building a bed from 800 year old Chinese elm.
Dr. Kathleen Gruss also graduated from the Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978 where she was a member of Phi Zeta, the national veterinary honor society. Prior to starting Veterinary School, she attended Virginia Tech for two years and transferred to Ohio State where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in Animal Science. Her special interests include surgery and internal medicine. She lives in Earlysville with her husband, Dr. John Gruss, their two cats and toy poodle. She looks forward to visits from their two children who are college students. She spends her spare time with her two dressage horses, one is an elderly thoroughbred and the other is a young hanovarian.
Dr. Emily Kinnaird received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 1979. She has a Masters of Veterinary Science from the University of Queensland, Australia, where she taught veterinary medicine for several years. Her areas of expertise include internal medicine and behavior medicine. She lives in Earlysville with her husband and two dogs. In her spare time you can find Dr. Kinnaird practicing new clicker techniques with her dogs.
Dr. Barbara Butler graduated from North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. She has a special interest and advanced training in animal dentistry, as well as certification in veterinary acupuncture. Her husband is a large animal veterinarian with his own practice. They have lived in Madison since 1992 with their two children, two dogs, and two cats. In her spare time, Dr. Barbara is an accomplished gardener.
